For self-catering there is a supermarket in San Pietro (1-minute drive). Away from the coast there are many charming hill towns, including Kruje (1 hour) which is home to 5th-century Kruje Castle, as well as Kruje Bazaar which dates back to the 17th century.

There are also hiking routes in the surrounding mountains which range from the easy to the challenging. Tirana is a 45-minute drive and makes a great day trip.

The main square – Skanderbeg Square is a must-see.
